When Batman was a huge success in 1989 a new Batman animated series was immediately approved, but due to the production time of animation it did not premiere until 1992. Created as part of the television series The Adventures of Superman, Superman and the Mole Men starred George Reeves as the man of steel dealing with a race of beings who have escaped their home miles below ground. But long before Christopher Reeve would embody the iconic Kryptonian there was another Superman movie-Superman and the Mole Men. In the 1970s he made moviegoers believe a man could fly in the first blockbuster superhero film. In the 1930s the DC character was a breakout success creating a template for superheroes that would be copied for the next century. On a direct-to-VHS series called The Night Shift Collection student adaptations of King's short stories "Children of the Corn" (title changed to Disciples of the Crow for film), "The Boogeyman", and "The Woman in the Room" were distributed-the last title directed by Frank Darabont, who would go on to direct professional King adaptations The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist! In an attempt to help student filmmakers King sells non-exclusive rights for one dollar he calls these films his "Dollar Babies." As part of the contract these films can not be distributed or sold however, in the 1980s three Dollar Babies were renegotiated and saw professional release. But beyond the feature films are hundreds of student-made short films based on King's short stories, completely authorized by the author. Later this month will see the re-release of the original Game Boy games on Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, and just yesterday the company aired its first-ever Super Bowl spot.Stephen King has over 50 feature films based on his writings. The Pokémon Company is celebrating its titular franchise's 20th birthday all yearlong, and The First Movie's addition to the site's video library is its latest move to honor the series. Regardless, this marks the only way to stream the fan favorite without a subscription, so there's not much to complain about. When The First Movie debuted in theaters, it came with a short film attached Pikachu's Vacation is not included with the title on the Pokémon streaming service. Other films in the series, as well as episodes of the anime, are also available on those services, along with Hulu and Netflix.
The 1999 film recently made its way onto iTunes, albeit at a cost, and is also up to purchase or rent on Amazon or Google Play. Pokémon: The First Movie, however, is currently among the Pokémon TV app offerings. While the website hosts a number of the more recent films, as well as a variety of episodes from the various Pokémon anime, the app version of Pokémon TV has a more limited selection.

The franchise's Twitter account first made fans aware of the addition earlier today the film is now available for free in its entirety. Pokémon: The First Movie is now streaming on Pokémon TV.
